アグニ（agni）はインドの神話に登場する火の神で、英語の「ignite」(点火する)という言葉と同根であるといわれています。自動車のエンジンなど内燃機関は点火プラグ（ignition plug）を備えていますが、マルセル・デュシャンの『大ガラス』では、花嫁の内燃機関は独身者の領域から撃ちこまれた９つの弾丸によって点火されるということのようです。人のエロスが突然開花して燃えあがっていくふしぎな現象……その影には、もしかしたら内燃機関の燃焼過程のような精密な仕組みがあるのかもしれません。次のサイトで、「動く大ガラス」が見られます。これ、かなりおもしろい……
