開運厄除御幣

この頃は、よく奈良の三輪山にでかけました。三輪山にある大三輪神社は、大物主大神をお祀りしており、本殿がなく、直接神体山である三輪山を祀る古式を残した神社として有名です。つまり、三輪山は山全体が御神体ということで、神そのものなのだから登れないはずなのですが、実際は、神社に接する一部が禁足地となっている以外は、麓の狭井神社で初穂料を納めればだれでも登山できます。しかし、神社側は登られるのをいやがっていて、狭井神社の神官の方に話を聴くと、「私ら、ほんとは入ってもらいたくないのよ」と言ってました。たしかに新興宗教みたいなちょっといっちゃってる人も多く、岩や木に、勝手にしめ縄をかけたり蛇の人形を置いたりして、自分の神様にしてお参りしているようです。滝もあり、修行で打たれている人もいます。三島由紀夫の『豊饒の海』にも、三輪山の滝に打たれるシーンがでてきました。極端な例では、ペンチを持ちこんで、禁足地の金網を切って中に入る人までいるそうです。禁足地からは、古代の祭祀遺跡が発掘されたとききましたが……

The lucky charm of holding luck and removing evils

I went to Mt. Miwa of Nara well these days. The Ohmiwa-Shrine located at Mt. Miwa where Ohmono-nusi-no-ohkami is enshrined, has not a main shrine architecture, and is famous as the Shinto shrine which left an ancient rite to worship the Mt. Miwa which is the God's body itself. Because Mt. Miwa is God himself, so no one can climb, but actually, anyone can climb, if he pay an sacred admission fee to a Sai Shrine at foot of mountain, except the sacred forbidden area. However, the Shrine does not seem to feel preferable that anyone's climbing. I heard from Shinto priesthood of Sai Shrine, he said, "to tell the truth, we want no one climbing". It is reasonable for him to say, for, in people climbing, there seem to be many eccentric people such as the new religion. They cover rocks and trees with Shinto straw festoons without permission and put the doll of the snake and give prayer as personal God. There are some waterfalls in the mountain, and there are some people beaten with water under the waterfall for ascetic practices. The scene hit by the waterfall of the Mt. Miwa appeared in "The Sea of Fertility" of Yukio Mishima. There are some extreme people who cut the wire netting of the forbidden area with pliers, and enter inside. I heard that the trace of ancient sacred rites was excavated from the forbidden area.
