地球創成―EARTH BORN。このタイトルも、この作品の制作当時よく聴いていた喜多郎さんのアルバムからもらいました。ここでは、私たちの住むこの地球のことを、いろいろな角度から考えてみたいと思いました。
人間の思惟は、「地球」をすっとばしてすぐに宇宙大になってしまいます。たとえば、数学や物理学の理論にしても、それは、この地球だけではなく、宇宙全体に通じる理論であり、法則である……それは、もうわざわざ断るまでもなく無意識の前提になっています。普遍的概念。つまり、この宇宙はどこまでいってもこれで押し通せるんだと、そういう理論が、なんの疑いもなく普通に形成されてきました。そしてこれは、哲学においても同じで、やはり「地球限定」という枠はなく、普遍的に、どこまで行っても通用するものとしていろいろなことが考えられてきました。
私は、この21世紀の間に、人類のこのような見方が根本から変わるかもしれないという気がしています。そして、そのきっかけになったのは、やはり、20世紀の半ばすぎに行われたアメリカの「アポロ計画」で、人類が、はじめて「宇宙に浮かぶ地球」の姿を目にしたとき……その瞬間ではなかったかと思います。
人類の思惟……数学や物理学の理論も、哲学的思考も、もしかしたら一挙に「普遍」に届いてしまうのではなく、その前段階として、まずこの「地球」に制限されるのかもしれない……今はまだ、こんな考え方は特殊であると思いますが、徐々に、そのように考えないと人類はやっていけなくなるのではないかと思います。

"EARTH BORN - origin of earth", I borrowed this title also from an album of Kitaro, which I listened well when I made this work. Here, I wanted to think about this earth where we live, from various angles.
When the human thought begins to think about something, it swells out to size of the space immediately without passing through a stage called the earth. For example, it becomes the unconscious premise that a theory of mathematics or theory of physics, is applicable to whole universe, not limited to this earth, and no one do an additional remark expressly that. In other words, it becomes "a universal concept", and it is not necessary to say daringly. In this space, this theory is right, in anywhere, and forever. Such theories have been formed without any doubt until now. The circumstances were much the same in the philosophy too, and this field also did not have a frame of "the limitation of the earth", and various theories have been formed which have universal expanse, unconsciously.
As for me, the human feels like having possibilities to change an opinion from such a viewpoint fundamentally during this 21st century. In my opinion, the event that changed human's concept is a moment that the human watched a picture of the earth floating in the outer space for the first time, in the American "Project Apollo" which was performed in the middle of the 20th century.
An certain thought, the thought that human speculation may be limited on this "earth" as the pre-stage before "universality", even if the theory of mathematics and physics, or philosophical thought. At present, probably people thinking in such a way will be few. However, I will think that the human must come to take such a thought gradually, in future.
